Robin is one of a select number of Royal College of Organist Academy teachers nationally. The Academy offers the highest possible teaching and continually trains its teachers and monitors the standards provided. It ensures weekly lesson records with a clear direction and progression plus a progress review every 10 weeks for each pupil. He had the good fortune of teaching at the RCO Summer School annually since 2014 and delivering masterclasses in performance, aural training, sight-reading, transposition, score reading, improvisation and much besides.
Robin began lessons with Graham Eccles, gaining his Grade 8 in two years. At 15 he received a bursary towards masterclasses with David Titterington and Petr Eben at Dartington International Summer School. Regular teachers have included Noel Rawsthorne, Margaret Phillips (RNCM) and Roger Fisher. His PhD is on “The Late Style of Frank Bridge”. He has recently played at Ripon and Durham Cathedrals and York Minster and has also performed at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool Cathedral and Chester Cathedral.
He taught Academic Studies to RNCM undergraduates and has been Director of Music at independent schools nationally and internationally. His pupils have won exam awards over many years.
